I have a passion for nutrition and for helping others. As someone who has always struggled with food allergies and sensitivities, autoimmune disease, hypothyroidism, hormonal imbalances, a weak immune system, and “mystery” illnesses, I’ve found myself spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to heal my body.

At the age of 6, I decided to become a vegetarian. I did not have the knowledge or desire to necessarily be a healthy vegetarian, but I just knew I no longer wanted to consume meat products. As a preteen, my mom began to worry about my diet, and had me see a nutritionist. I still remember how excited I was to take in all the new information surrounding diet and healthy lifestyle. I believe my passion for nutrition began during that initial meeting.

Unfortunately, with my teenage years, came a desire to yo-yo diet and I developed disordered eating. I began living off of protein bars, slim fast drinks, and energy drinks. I would then rebound and eat “healthy” calorie-dense foods, loaves of bread, and white rice in excess. After nearly a decade of this unhealthy relationship with food, I had damaged my metabolism and my overall health. Not only was I addicted to sugar and bread-like foods, I was in denial and thought I would find the magical diet to cure my body and my obsessive thoughts surrounding food. My days were spent obsessing about weight loss, calories, and bread. I hadn’t given up, and I hadn’t fully “let myself go”, but I was losing the battle and I was already exhausted.

I never considered that I was a food addict. I had never had a “binge” that was too excessive. I had always fluctuated between normal and about 20lbs overweight, but never crossed over into obese. I had willpower to go on extended fasts and I had maintained a vegetarian/vegan diet for years.  One day, after coming across a book called, “Bright Line Eating,” I realized that I scored a 10 on the susceptibility test. I was indeed, a food addict.

Bright Line Eating saved me! I want other people to experience the freedom that comes with living a life that isn’t consumed by food and all things related. I believe that there is no one-size fits all approach, however it is fairly simple to customize a plan to fit into everyone’s life.

Education

After attending OSU and studying nutrition and kinesiology, I went on to earn a certificate as a Diet and Life Coach. I knew I wanted to work with people that desired to get their health on track, but I wanted more knowledge so I could help people on a deeper level than simply recommending diet and exercise changes. I continued my education to become an Integrative Health Practitioner. I now have the knowledge to help just about anyone overcome food addiction, tweak their current diet for optimal health, figure out other areas of imbalance, guide my clients towards appropriate labs and protocols, and empowering them with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed long-term.
